I made two of this two days ago. Absolutely yum. My family loves it.
It's a new favourite and even my brothers can't say no to it, though they say they are sick of apples!
I used this recipe Stephanie at JoyofBaking. I love her recipes, they always work for me.
I also made this lovely Strawberry Buttermilk Cake, using a recipe from my all time cake-hero, the Caked Crusader. It was lovely, though the strawberries were extremely tart. Next time I might roll them in a bit of sugar before mixing them into the cake. The strawberries collapsed like nobody's business but it tasted lovely all the same. It didn't quite have the texture of a cake- more like bread pudding. I'm not sure if that's how it was supposed to turn out or if I hadn't baked it enough. Whatever it is, it's all gone now (and yes, I forgot to take a photo. Duh).
I still haven't used the oven Dad gave me. Baked the tarts and cake at home, using Mum's oven.
Going back to GM tomorrow. I might make something else before I go. Take care everyone! I really do miss blogging about baking.
Good to hear from you. And its good that your busy too :) I love apple tart but never make it, not sure why. I always pick up a slice when I see it made somewhere else, its the freshness of the apples that appeals to me. I hope you get to use the oven your Dad has given you. Take care
ReplyDeleteThanks Shaheen! I really miss blogging, though I'm not very good at it. I'm glad you still have time to blog, I always try my best to catch up on a post even if I'm too busy to comment :)
DeleteHooray - you're back! I have missed your posts.
ReplyDeleteApple tart looks lovely and don't worry about your strawberry cake - it is meant to be squidgy and pudding-like. SOunds like yours was perfect!
Hey CC! It's so good to be back here. I hope I'll be able to keep this up... hehe. I'm not sure it was perfect but it did taste lovely!
